Peoples Press

An Award-Winning Regional Publisher

We are based in western Colorado with Globe Pequot Press as our national distribution partner. Our books are as varied as we are as people: photography books, guidebooks, memoirs, and mysteries. We publish histories and field guides, children’s books and fiction. Exceptional quality, a strong narrative or illustrative voice, and a timeless story are what makes a People’s Press book.

Guided Publishing

Consider People’s Press as the publisher for the book you have always wanted to author. We review manuscripts at any stage in the publishing process - a drafted manuscript, an edited manuscript,  a title that needs re-publishing. If selected by our Editorial Board, we will guide you and your book through the publishing maze and onto the shelves.

A few words of caution: we are not the mega-publishing house or angel investor with funds to finance your dream book. We are not the online publisher with templates and mass production.

We edit and design locally as a part of the community to which we belong and owe our allegiance. We are a team. And you will be a member. We will embark on this journey together and hopefully reap the rewards together.

The Nitty Gritty

Submissions – People’s Press reviews submissions on a monthly basis. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for our submissions guidelines.

Publishing Models – The truth of the matter is that publishing books is expensive. We still subscribe to the royalty-based model and we have recently introduced a new (yet old) model: investor-based publishing. The arts have long been supported by investors, patrons, and enthusiasts. And so, we are an old model back to life and perhaps you know of an investor who wants to help transform your manuscript into a book.

Publishing Takes Time – Exceptional quality is one of our defining characteristics. It goes without saying that if we accept your manuscript we are enthused to publish your book. Together, and with adequate time, we will produce a quality book.

Publishing is a Journey

Our guides collaborate with you and your manuscript to produce an enduring publication. We bring the expertise of condensing topics to work-shopping ideas, of manuscript editing to image selection, of generating the design concept to keeping you moving forward. It is these conversations, the personalized touch, the teamwork, and the attention to detail that will enhance the final book.
